OVX Grants
Who says there's no free lunch? Well, actually you do have to work for it. Find out how to get money from OVX to do all the cool things you're planning.

Request for Proposal--Introduction
Our Voices Xposed (OVX) is Vermont's youth movement against tobacco use. Vermont was one of the 12 states originally awarded a grant from the American Legacy Foundation to start a movement for youth, by youth. In its second year, OVX will fund up to 25 grants of up to $5,000 each, to schools, teen centers, youth groups or other nonprofit youth-serving agencies committed to tobacco use prevention. We are looking for creativity and effectiveness in reaching and working with youth aged 14-18.

Goals
Our Voiced Xposed is inviting high-school-aged youth to lead a peer movement to reduce tobacco use among our peers. The purpose of this movement is to educate and inform our peers; empower and show our peers how to express their views; take action against the exploitation of the tobacco industry on youth; and encourage positive behavior in all aspects of life. The goal of this movement is to lower smoking among youth aged 14-18 and to stay smoke-free throughout our lifetime.

OVX will fund a wide variety of youth groups focused on reducing tobacco use to sponsor trainings, programs, and fun, interactive activities on the truth about tobacco and/or to help our peers quit tobacco use.

The project has three main components: 1) Local OVX Sites, 2) Statewide OVX programs/activities, 3) Statewide OVX media campaign.

In the second program year, up to 25 local OVX sites will be funded. These movements will be youth-led and closely affiliated with other school and community-based tobacco prevention efforts. Participating youth will receive intensive training on peer leadership, community organizing, media literacy, communication, and research-based prevention strategies.
